Social Security
The “Seguridad Social” is the Spanish government body that constitutes the national social security system, which guarantees health care to all citizens.
Registration with the Social Security is therefore necessary to be able to be eligible for one of the most important services to the citizen and is one of the requirements needed when we sign a job contract, in order to be able to allocate the corresponding percentage of our gross salary to the payment of contributions.
Once registered with the Social Security, we can then go to the “centro de salud” (the Spanish public health center) and request the assignment of a doctor, as well as the issue of the “tarjeta sanitaria” (health card).
